Every year, WCCW releases 500 offenders with only an outfit, $40 and a ride to a bus stop. None have a job and many are homeless with no place to go. Two thirds of them reoffend and come back to the prison – many within the first year.
Gig Harbor Rotary Club is working to change that and you can help:
Mentoring – Meet with released graduates in their County of origin and assist with adjusting to the community.
Employment – Offer internships, apprenticeships or jobs to course graduates through the Gig Harbor Rotary website.
Scholarship Fund – Donate to the endowment fund offering academic scholarships to course graduates.
